Füssen is a colorful town located in the south of Germany, very close to the border with Austria. Very often Füssen is just the prelude for Neuschwanstein and Hohenschawangau Castle, situated close to Füssen in Hohenschwangau village. How to get from Füssen to Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenscwangau Castle
The easiest way to get to the castles is of course by car.Those who don’t have a car can take a train(Deutschen Bahn,www.bahn.de) till Füssen and from there take a bus(no.73 or 78) till the famous site.
The buses that take you from Füssen to the castle are: RVA/OVG 73 (direction Steingaden/Feuerwehrhaus or Wieskirche,Steingaden) or Bus RVA/OVG 78 (direction Hohenschawangau,Schawangau Schlosser). Visit www.bahn.de for the bus schedule. The bus make around 10 minutes from Füssen till Hohenschawangau village, where the castles are.
Bus Fussen to Neuschwanstein castle
The distance between Füssen – old town and the castles is just 5 km, so I guess if you don’t want to take a bus, you can walk or take a cab.
Every form of transport you choose it will only take you till Hohenschwangau village. Here you buy the ticket for the castle and then you have two options: take the bus or walk for 15-20min. The bus costs under 2 euro, but you have to wait for it and it’s very crowded. Maybe it sounds relatively complicated, but it isn’t.
